THE NEIGHBORHOOD STORY
Oak Park is one of America's most architecturally significant communities — the early home of Frank Lloyd Wright, whose studio on Forest Avenue produced a disproportionate share of the Prairie School movement's foundational works. The village contains 25 Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, more than any other community in the world. Beyond its architectural celebrity, Oak Park is a community of genuine civic sophistication — it was one of the first American communities to consciously navigate racial integration, and it has maintained a commitment to diversity and inclusion that has made it a model for American civic life.
