THE NEIGHBORHOOD STORY
Kenilworth is the smallest municipality on the North Shore — just over one square mile of land — and by most measures its most exclusive. It was founded in 1890 as a planned residential community by Joseph Sears, who envisioned a village of single-family homes free from commercial development, and that original vision remains intact with extraordinary fidelity. There are no stores in Kenilworth. There are no apartment buildings. There is a train station, a park, a beach, a school, and homes. The simplicity of this structure is not an accident — it is a sustained community choice that has produced a level of residential exclusivity that is genuinely rare.
